Why Oil Prices Will Not Be Declining

I have seen the price trade in tight range the last week or two moving between $46 and $48.  This could be a new plateau from which the price of oil could rise.  What’s interesting about the price of oil at this level is that it has not declined even as oil production from Canada Continue reading The post Why Oil Prices Will Not Be Declining appeared first on Shale Directories.

McClendons American Energy Partners Shutting Down

I guess it was inevitable that American Energy Partners would close.  It’s good to see that the companies that were part of American Energy Partners will continue to operate under their own separate management. American Energy Partners, the independent producer founded in 2013 by Chesapeake Energy co-founder Aubrey McClendon, is closing, the company’s leadership team Continue reading The post McClendons American Energy Partners Shutting Down appeared first on Shale Directories.

Are We Seeing the Early Hints of Recovery in Drilling?

When I look at the news coming out of the industry, it sure feels that we could see a pick up drilling.  But we’ll only know that when we see Baker Hughes’ rig count tick up. Here are some of the interesting occurrences: There has been an increase in the number of companies declaring bankruptcies Continue reading The post Are We Seeing the Early Hints of Recovery in Drilling? appeared first on Shale Directories.

Panda Patriot

That was how one piece of equipment for the electric natural gas fired Panda Patriot arrived in Montgomery, PA.  While the vast majority of parts were manufactured here in the US, the largest turbine was shipped from Germany. It arrived in NC via barge and delivered to a port in Albany, NY.   There the turbine Continue reading The post Panda Patriot appeared first on Shale Directories.

Thoughts on Two Developments – Range Deal and the Price of Oil

The Range Deal With the Range’s planned purchase of Memorial Resource Development, one has to wonder if the deal will cause Range to shift some of its attention away from the Appalachian Basin to a section in Louisiana called the “Cotton Valley.” Range and other operators in the Appalachian Basin are facing challenges to many Continue reading The post Thoughts on Two Developments – Range Deal and the Price of Oil appeared first on Shale Directories.

Range Resources Buy Memorial Resource Development

Range Resources is buying fellow oil and gas producer Memorial Resource Development for $3.3 billion plus $1.1 billion of debt, expanding operations in the Appalachian Basin and U.S. Gulf Coast regions. Range will absorb the smaller Houston, Texas-based driller, adding its Louisiana operations to existing acreage and wells across Pennsylvania, Texas and Oklahoma. “This acquisition Continue reading The post Range Resources Buy Memorial Resource Development appeared first on Shale Directories.

Is the Bottom in on NatGas in the Appalachian Basin?

A couple of weeks ago in our newsletter we had story about EQT making a call that the NatGas price in the Appalachian could have bottomed.  I think I agree. The rig counts in PA, OH and WV have been somewhat flat the five weeks.  The rig count in PA has hovered around 16 rigs.  Continue reading The post Is the Bottom in on NatGas in the Appalachian Basin? appeared first on Shale Directories.

CO2 Emissions Continue to Fall

U.S. carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2015 were 12% lower than 2005 levels, primarily due to the country’s power sector exiting coal as fuel and moving to natural gas and renewables, the Energy Information Administration reports. Overall, fuel-use changes in the power sector accounted for 68% of total energy-related CO2 reductions from 2005 to 2015, Continue reading The post CO2 Emissions Continue to Fall appeared first on Shale Directories.

Where Will We Find the Workers?

This is a question a number of E&P Companies are asking themselves.  While this downturn has caused many oil and gas industry pros to turn to other industries, many senior managers are wondering what it will take to convince these workers to return. The need for physical labor will be important on well sites, but Continue reading The post Where Will We Find the Workers? appeared first on Shale Directories.
