AOC and Green Hulk Reveal the Fractivist Playbook

A tweet by Mark Ruffalo and cable appearance by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reveal the fractivist playbook in its entirety; feelings have no room for facts.

A faithful reader sent me a tweet from Mark Ruffalo yesterday about his visit to Washington to hob-nob with newly installed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or “AOC” as she has signaled she wants to be called now. It might as well stand for “Another Obtuse Collectivist” as far as I’m concerned. Nonetheless, she of sudden “Green New Deal” fame has done something suddenly wonderful as well. She has perfectly illustrates the fractivist playbook, as does the Green Hulk’s tweet.

Here’s the Ruffalo tweet:

Here’s a fellow with an expensive Manhattan apartment and a second home in the country where he used a small fortune in taxpayer money to install a virtue signaling solar system. Meanwhile, he flies all over the country and serves as the celebrity poster boy in acting out the Rockefeller family fractivist playbook. And, to prove his own obtuseness quotient, he lectures the rest of us on the need for a “better, more equal government.”

Ruffalo could start down that road himself by returning the tens of thousands of dollars he took in unnecessary solar subsidies. After that, he could sell his place in Sullivan County and donate the proceeds to helping others go green, if he is really serious with that daft remark. He won’t, of course, because he’s only serious to the extent he’s following the fractivist playbook that gives him nice warm feelings about his own humanity and superior morality

The picture of Ruffalo with AOC, which, no doubt the lady supposes puts her on the level with other bright bulbs such as Cher, reinforces this. She has taken it a step further, though, appearing with Anderson Cooper to offer this:

COOPER: One of the criticisms of you is that– that your math is fuzzy. The Washington Post recently awarded you four Pinocchios —

OCASIO-CORTEZ: Oh my goodness —

COOPER: — for misstating some statistics about Pentagon spending?

OCASIO-CORTEZ: If people want to really blow up one figure here or one word there, I would argue that they’re missing the forest for the trees. I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.

COOPER: But being factually correct is important–

OCASIO-CORTEZ: It’s absolutely important. And whenever I make a mistake. I say, “Okay, this was clumsy,” and then I restate what my point was.

As Ben Shapiro explains so well, AOC is saying “my feelings don’t care about your facts.” That’s the fractivist playbook in seven words so easy to grasp even this Millennial muttonhead should be able to get it. It’s the same story Ruffalo is singing and it’s all about promoting ridiculous ideas such as her “Green New Deal,” for which there isn’t enough money in the world and which would still require about the same natural gas electricity generation capacity as now for backup if nothing else. It is the recipe for massive land disturbances and open space consumption topped off with completely unaffordable energy.

But, the facts don’t matter in the fractivist playbook. If you feel it’s the right thing to do and you’re confident your morality is superior to your neighbors, you are entitled to not only ignore the facts but also make them up. And. lying to advance the secular faith isn’t just permitted; it’s required.
